We live in a society that doesn’t regard self-care, rest and preventative medicine as essential. Taking responsibility for your self-care is essential and empowering!
Life can be stressful and overwhelming as you care for your family, manage work commitments and juggle all of your responsibilities.
It is difficult to balance it all and feeling overwhelmed is normal with so many demands on you!
It is important you take time for your own wellbeing. A weekend retreat, at home, will give you the time and space you need to rest, reset and focus.
Simple self-care techniques can alleviate daily stress, anxiety, overwhelm and fatigue.

SOL Yoga Expert
SOL yoga expert Clem Balfour has created a series of yoga sequences for the retreat, ensuring each session is easy to follow and suitable for all skill levels.
Clem will be available to offer you support and answer any questions you may have.
In the morning, you’ll have the option of a 30 minute energising session or a slower, 30 minute restorative sequence. If you prefer, you’ll also have the freedom to combine the two.
At the end of the day, there will be a gentle 20 minute sequence to help you prepare for a good night’s sleep.
Through Clem’s gentle yoga you will experience the self-care of movement: stretching and moving through poses that create both physical strength and trust in our bodies.
You have ongoing access to the yoga videos to help you establish a home practice.

Our holistic chef Lizzie and SOL nutritionist Florence have created a autumn menu to nourish and support your body.
Lizzie and Florence will be available in the forum to answer any questions you may have on the recipes, cooking or nutrition.
Your retreat menu includes gluten, dairy and sugar free seasonal recipes, all quick and easy to make, adaptable and highly nutritious.
Along with inspirational cooking videos, we’ll share nutritional information and expert tips for creating a holistic kitchen at home.
You’ll receive a beautiful set of printed recipe cards and a detailed shopping list covering all the ingredients you’ll need.
With our help, you’ll be able to enjoy the shopping, cooking and eating process from start to finish as you naturally nourish your body in the comfort of your own home.

Gemma David SOL meditation expert, is committed to helping people achieve a state of balance between the body and mind.
She believes that through cultivating a practice of meditation we naturally learn to become more mindful each day.
An audio series of guided meditations have been intentionally scheduled throughout the weekend to help you focus, relax, sleep and reflect.
They’re simple and clear, designed for both beginners and seasoned meditators.
A 15 minute candlelight meditation for reflection.
Two 10 minute mindfulness meditations.
A 15 minute sleep meditation.
You will gain the basic skills to begin your own meditation practice.

Mindfulness connects each of the different elements included in our online wellbeing retreats; each element is greatly enhanced when approached mindfully.
The retreat features two 15 minute mindfulness meditations. The first is designed to help you connect with yourself and your home and the second, a candlelight meditation, will allow you to focus on your wellbeing practices and set intentions to integrate them into everyday life once the retreat is over.
We’ll also provide inspiration and ideas about mindfully preparing your home and creating comfortable spaces to enjoy the full range of wellbeing practices.

Sleep is the restorative element, this powerful process helps our bodies heal, but is often compromised when life is busy, stressful or when caring for others.

The retreat schedule has been carefully designed to prepare you for deep and restful sleep.

Your essential oil pamper session includes a clay face mask, salt scrub, hot soak in a salt bath and a massage.

Seasonal Living: Autumn
Traditional Chinese Medicine is an important influence on our approach, this ancient system illustrates the importance of following the natural rhythms and cycles of our planet to support balance in our bodies and minds.
In Chinese Five Elements Theory, autumn belongs to the element of metal.
Metal is connected to the taste of spice and to the colour white. The organs relating to metal are the lungs, large intestine and the skin, which are thought to influence our ability to let go of what no longer serves us and create space for the new.
The emotion connected with metal is grief or sadness. In autumn we are saying farewell to the abundance of summer and preparing for the reflective time that is to come.
All of the wellbeing practices and self-care techniques have been created to sustain your wellbeing through the colder, darker, cosier months ahead.
Self-care & Resistance
At State of Liberty, we’re particularly interested in the ways we resist and avoid self-care. Most of us never had healthy self-care practices modelled for us. We may have inherited beliefs that confuse self-care with selfishness, laziness or indulgence.
The truth is, when we don’t take care of ourselves, advocate for our needs or ask for support, we don’t receive what we inherently need. And for us to do our work in the world, care and restoration is essential.
Scheduled throughout our online retreats are focused wellbeing discussions to help you set clear intentions, explore any internal resistance to self-care and to help integrate wellbeing into your life long-term.

You will need:
For the yoga, meditation and mindfulness elements:
- A quiet space where you won’t be interrupted.
- A yoga mat and a blanket.
- An essential oil diffuser or tealight oil burner.
- A journal.
For the food element:
- Depending on whether you opt for organic produce, the food budget is estimated to be between £40 and £60. Many of the items we suggest will be essentials for stocking your food cupboard and you may already have some of the ingredients.
- Some of the recipes will require a blender.
For the pamper element:
- A bath or foot bath.
For the sleep element:
• Fresh linen.
