Food brings us comfort, connection and care. At State Of Liberty, we believe eating should be joyful and celebratory. You won’t find dieting and calorie counting here, instead our focus is enjoyment and ease.

Cultivating a holistic perspective requires a basic, fundamental understanding that we are what we eat. Nutrition, health and wellbeing are intrinsically linked. When we’re conscious of our food choices and aware of our personal needs, natural rhythms, cycles and habits, we are choosing the most responsible and liberating way of eating and living. Being mindful whilst food shopping, cooking and eating can greatly enhance this everyday experience.

Our Approach

The six wellbeing elements included on our online retreats all complement each other, so you can be confident the food and drink we suggest will support all the other wellbeing practices. With our help, you’ll be able to enjoy the shopping, cooking and eating process from start to finish as you naturally nourish your body in the comfort of your own home.

Cooking mindfully and intuitively is a skill developed over time, so we’ll be sharing simple techniques to help prepare your holistic kitchen and establish good habits. We love a well-stocked store cupboard, so we’ll share our list of basic, essential ingredients for quick and easy cooking.

State Of Liberty Food

Our food and drink recipes have been carefully created to be easily integrated into everyday life. We’ll focus on foods that naturally support your body, nourish your cells and balance your hormones. We’ll show you how to prepare quick, easy meals that are healthy, delicious, affordable, sustainable and deeply satisfying.

Eating less refined, processed and potentially stressful foods and replacing them with fresh, organic, seasonal, nutritious wholefoods can be very beneficial for your body. Eating seasonally and locally is not only good for you, your family and friends, but the planet too.

The kitchen is also a pharmacy. It’s full of simple everyday foods, herbs and spices that have healing properties to prevent or cure many ailments, as well as numerous natural ingredients that can be used for making beauty products.

Hello, I’m Lizzie, founder of State of Liberty and holistic chef. My personal journey through life has given me a deep connection to a plethora of wellbeing practices. All have had a positive impact on me and are included in our online retreats. I have worked as a nutritionist and holistic chef on wellbeing retreats around the world and lived in India for 7 years working on yoga retreats, which eventually culminated in the opening of my own natural food cafe where I served yogis after their morning practice. This yoga lifestyle allowed me to practise every day and benefit from a wide range of experienced teachers. Home is now Bristol where I’ve been living for the past 8 years. I have another business called Wedding Yurts, and we host celebrations all over the UK in our beautiful handcrafted yurt venue. Life is busy! I support myself by eating well, drinking lots of water, regularly practising yoga, meditating and getting plenty of sleep. ‘Lokah samastash sukhino bhavantu’ ‘May all beings be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words and actions of my own life contribute in some way to happiness and freedom for all’. This beautiful Sanskrit mantra perfectly captures my vision for State of Liberty. We are all unique and we all have our own stories to tell. Understanding your story empowers you to discover true health. You are the only person who can heal yourself because you are the only person holding the knowledge of who you really are. Together with the rest of the SOL team, my intention is to create a inspiring, supportive and safe online wellbeing platform. I believe that with the right tools and support, everyone can improve their health and wellbeing in a natural and holistic manner. When I’m not working, I enjoy travelling and spending time outdoors. My partner and I regularly escape to Hungary where we own a little wine house in the forest. The windows are wonky and it’s really quite wild. Located in the middle of nowhere, it’s incredibly quiet and at night, pitch black. For us, it’s the perfect contrast to city life.
